Key job responsibilities

The Devices Reverse Logistics organization is looking for an Operations Process Engineer to join our RL process engineering team in the US. The Ideal candidate will be a strong leader, capable of influencing large cross-functional teams and comfortable managing multiple projects in an environment where changing priorities are common. A deep background and industry experience in a production environment which includes evidence of designing and implementing new processes resulting in optimized and controlled process efficiency. This position requires the ability to work with limited guidance to plan, organize, and implement process improvements while identifying opportunities for defining and creating improved process solutions. The candidate should possess strong data analysis capabilities to influence decisions.

The ideal candidate should exhibit a broad skill set including: process improvement, develop cost savings initiatives, build strong relationships both internal and external, demonstrate business judgement, creativity, vision, and strong communication skills.

The Role

  • Collaboratively define and develop moderate to complex processes for deployment into production lines. Drive cohesion amongst global sites while adhering to engineering requirements striving for labor and cost-efficient processes.

  • Owns process development, optimization and cost reduction initiatives including designing and planning equipment and floor layout.

  • Implement technology and system improvements to impact safety, quality, delivery and cost targets.

  • Develops workflow, work station, and equipment improvements within company's operational environment.

  • Develop continuous improvement plans using simulations, testing, statistical knowledge and problem-solving skills.

  • Utilize tools, such as FMEA, to analyze current processes to identify bottlenecks, pain-points, and opportunities to reduce process time and costs.

  • Define process roadmap to meet new product launch requirements and milestone.

  • Use Project management skills to characterize process improvements from conception to implementation.

  • Build mechanisms using design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to influence new product launches and sustaining programs.

  • Collaborates with Amazon’s 3rd party vendors to leverage their expertise and advocate for support on continuous improvement projects.

  • This position requires up to 25% of domestic and international travel.

A day in the life

The Operations Process Engineer will be a key partner with our global production sites in terms of process quality, expansion, integration, development and innovation. The process engineer will work closely with operations, quality, and test engineering teams to develop, implement and optimize screening and repair solutions for Amazon Devices Reverse logistics. This process engineer will be the main driver of continuous process improvements while driving organizational support and accountability for both internal and external partners.

Basic Qualifications

  • • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Process Engineering, or related field

  • • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • • 3+ years of experience in using data and metrics to develop process improvement plans, influence stakeholders, and implement improvement initiatives.

  • • Advanced knowledge of SQL and Excel

  • • Experience working cross functionally with technical and non-technical teams

  • • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing tools in a production environment

  • • Primary experiences that illustrate consistent data driven decision-making, analytical and problem solving skills with a bias for measurement

  • • Ability to work independently and ensure timely execution of program delivery

  • • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience with successful metrics in a high volume production environment

  • • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • • Experience building manufacturing process using simulation models

  • • Experience working in a Reverse Logistics or Service Engineering preferred, but not required

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $93,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
