About the Department

The Chicago Center for HIV Elimination (CCHE) is situated within the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago Medicine. CCHE aims to eliminate all new HIV transmission events by 2041.

The CCHE mission includes integrated and comprehensive approaches to HIV elimination, including addressing risks associated with drug use and addiction, and testing interventions to promote harm reduction, testing, and linkage to care. Projects are located throughout the state of Illinois.

Job Summary

The Manager of Implementation Research will work closely with the Director of Research to oversee implementation of research projects at Chicago Center for HIV Elimination (CCHE). This candidate will facilitate the design, development, and implementation of research studies and provide project management and research support to research staff and Principal Investigators. The individual will be responsible for creating and maintaining staff policies, submitting job requests, support hiring and for the onboarding of all new research staff. They will supervise other research staff working on various studies and engage in administrative tasks related to the research. The position will be responsible for communication and collaboration between research and other teams at CCHE. The manager may be required to support research projects by working directly with research participants.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the CCHE research team, Center Director and Principal Investigators to implement research at CCHE.
  • Leads efforts to execute scopes for various research projects at CCHE.
  • Ensures compliance with requirements of funding sources (e.g., submitting program plans, providing progress reports, final reports, etc.).
  • Supports compliance with human subjects research (support development of IRB protocols and submissions).
  • Facilitates the design, development, and implementation of research study protocols.
  • Supports hiring - conducts phone screens, coordinates and schedules interviews and conducts reference checks.
  • Supervises Research Staff as assigned.
  • Acts as a resource on the basics of clinical research and related aspects of clinical study for colleagues with less experience. Prepares and evaluates writing protocols, IRB submissions, grant applications, manuscripts, reports, and dissemination tools.
  • Solves complex problems relating to data management and the analysis of large administrative datasets. Works independently to develop, manage, and report on key data and ensures timeliness of data and reporting submissions from multiple investigators.
  • Acts as a resource on the basics of clinical research and related aspects of clinical study for colleagues with less experience. Prepares and evaluates writing protocols, IRB submissions, grant applications, manuscripts, reports, and dissemination tools.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Master\'s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, or other related field.

Experience:

  • Experience in a management or supervision.
  • Experience working with and/or providing care to LGBT populations preferred, Black and Latino com unity members.
  • Experience providing HIV/STI treatment and/or prevention.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, and proven grant writing skills.
