We are currently seeking an individual on a casual contract basis as required to perform technical and engineering assigned tasks, field service duties, installations, removals, maintenance and operation of equipment as assigned for northern radar programs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Field Service duties as assigned and required. These duties may include, but are not limited to: System installation, Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), System start-up and cycle down activities, Fault Isolation Tests (FITs), equipment installations, acceptance and operation trials, repair and preventive maintenance for radar systems.

  • Assemble both the systems and/or assemblies in accordance with proper procedures and specifications. This may include but is not limited to hardware installations, setting of the correct torque specifications per assembly drawings; equipment, power and/or cable installations and replacement.

  • Follow documented processes in order to complete proper System Start-up, Operation, and Cycle down activities.

  • Assist in the development, submissions, and completion of Technology and Investigations and Engineering Services (TIES).

  • Conduct initial analysis on failed equipment and systems. Identify root causes and implement preventive maintenance actions or corrections. Document all test and repair activities.

  • Fully understand and be capable of operating all test equipment associated with radar systems, including Special Test Equipment (STE), and relevant Engineering Change Processes (ECPs). Generate timely and accurate reports and documentation upon completion of field service work and liaise with management on the outcome of the field service tasking.

  • Capable in using commercial field test equipment such as DMM’s, Network Analyzer, RF Frequency counters and power meters.

  • Assist in the operations of the radar sites from one to four Northern expeditions per year, as required. Scheduled expeditions will be anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks on-site.

  • Assist in the implementation and updates of technical, operations and/or maintenance procedures.

  • Perform all system final test duties.

  • May be required to perform special assignments or tasks as directed by management.

  • Prepare and perform all preventive maintenance activities, cleaning, filter replacements, etc. within each site either during system start-up or prior to shut-down activities.

  • Co-ordinate with program management to ensure appropriate and measurable turnaround times are maintained.

  • Follow and adhere to written, operational and safety procedures in the course of completing all job assignments.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a mechanical background supported by a post-secondary education in either a Mechanical or Electronic discipline. Consideration for equivalent work experience is evaluated.

  • Experience with fault isolation, test and troubleshooting of electronic and computer related equipment, cable assembly testing and repair would be an asset.

  • System network, configuration and data storage experience is an asset.

  • Must be flexible and willing to travel for extended periods, sometimes on short notice.

  • Fully understand all relevant technical manuals, drawings, schematics and publications.

  • Full understanding of maintenance and repair concepts, upgrade of in-house procedures and fully capable of performing all levels of system tear down, installation, reassembly, mechanical repairs and radar repairs.

  • Must be able to communicate and work well with the customer in order to maintain an acceptable customer satisfaction level.

  • Must be in-house certified capable of performing all FSR taskings.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Individual must hold valid secret security clearance status.

  • Willing and able to work outdoors in Northern conditions

  • Require an understanding of the safe operation of radar and high power transmitter equipment, including high voltage equipment (as applicable).
