Wabtec is seeking a qualified Manufacturing Engineer I to join our team in Buffalo Grove, Illinois . The ideal candidate will plan, direct, and coordinate the manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the following duties.

Manufacturing Engineer I Job Responsibilities: (Partial List)

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.

  • Review and analysis of space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency

  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards

  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

  • Research and propose Capital Acquisitions based on production requirements, protentional manufacturing cost reductions, safety improvements, or environmental green initiatives

Manufacturing Engineer I Skills/Qualifications: (Partial List)

  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experienced in Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, PFMEA ,Gemba events. Experience (6 months or more) in Auto-Cad, or ProE is required.

  • Analytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Design’s workflows and procedures.

  • Technical Skills - Assesses own strengths and weaknesses; Pursues training and development opportunities; Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; Shares expertise with others.

  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.

  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university
