Summary of Job Description

The position, Parts Department Planner 2, is responsible for the organization and control of the flow of materials through the manufacturing process, determining the root cause for shortages, and reconciling inventory. This position is also responsible for expediting shortages and creating, updating, and maintaining shop paper. Maintaining data within the JD Edwards system and scheduling operations within the facility is also required in this position.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor floor for shortages

  • Expedite shortages through purchasing, weld, and fabrication

  • Correct Bill of Materials (BOM) through the BOM query system

  • Exercise skills in location management

  • Gather components and parts needed for different stages of assembly (kitting)

  • Process and reconcile inventory

  • Possess the ability to read work orders/dispatch reports and follow oral instruction

  • Determine root cause for shortages

  • Assemble shop paper including build book & work order batching

  • Responsible for Change Order (PCO) distribution

  • Follow up on any issues

  • Raise potential issues to the appropriate level for disposition

  • Create and process shop orders

  • Determine the root cause and corrective action for daily obstacles

  • Possess a working knowledge of Kanban

  • Perform data maintenance

  • Perform cycle counts

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills

  • Regular attendance required

  • All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education or one year of materials processing experience

Preferred Qualifications to complete Essential Functions

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • Working knowledge of bill of materials

  • Basic Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) knowledge

  • Ability to multi-task, self-motivate, and solve problems in a timely manner

  • Possess strong organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs; >35 lbs requires two team members, and >59 lbs requires a lift device.

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)—steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, vest

Work Environment

Working conditions will be inside and outside where temperatures will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold for extended periods of time. This position is regularly exposed to vibration and loud noises.
