Job Summary

The User Experience and Engagement unit of the Office of Information Technology encourages applications for a User Engagement Professional! This unit is responsible for providing:

  • User experience research, content design, and UI/UX design for OIT services and select CU Boulder student success projects,

  • External communications, organizational change and support documentation about OIT services,

  • Community outreach to our campus IT partners,

  • Functional and customer-facing IT user documentation,

  • Oversight of OIT's knowledge management, incident management, and service catalog ITIL processes,

  • Website development and management of OIT's web assets, and

  • IT support and messaging through the IT Service Center.

This position exists to support engagement with OIT customers by understanding user needs regarding IT programs, services and projects and to build and implement (or coordinate implementation of) communication/organizational change plans around new and existing IT services.

To be successful, the incumbent in this position must have an understanding of OIT programs, services, technologies and projects and the change management impacts and strategies required to engage customers through service launches, changes, migrations and decommissions. This position needs to be able to synthesize and translate IT concepts to a general user base.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

IT Service Communication

  • Collaborates with OIT Service Managers on the development and implementation of communications/change management plans related to OITs existing services. This position must synthesize technical concepts and changes, to truly understand user impact to support the user. This position works with the Lead User Engagement Professional to ensure that these plans are in alignment with each other, as well as the overall OIT engagement and support objectives/strategy.

IT Project Communication

  • Attends OIT project meetings to identify user impacts and needs. Recommends and implements communications/change management plans to build end user awareness of anticipated impacts they will experience and provide self-service guidance to navigate the impacts.

Special Initiatives

  • Engages in planning for, development of content for and implementation of communication plans for various special organizational initiatives, such as New Student Welcome.

  • This position is working in a hybrid work situation, working primarily remotely but will have an on-campus presence monthly or as needed.

What We Can Offer

  • Salary: $56,000 - $65,000

What We Require

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience or combination of education and experience may substitute.

  • One year of professional experience in IT user engagement, including IT service implementation and change communications.

  • Proficient in AP writing style.

  • Proficient in graphics/digital media tools.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Ability to publish content in a Content Management System.

  • Ability to work optimally and respectfully with multi-functional teams and different personality types.

  • Ability to thrive under pressure.

  • Ability to carry a plan through to completion and engage in continuous process improvement thereafter.

  • An understanding of how the IT function operates and integrates into the larger organization it serves.
