Amazon Pharmacy is looking for an engineering leader with strong technical competency, excellent communication skills, and a history of delivery to support a high-impact, confidential project. Our goal is to evolve the capabilities of Pharmacy Fulfillment to ultimately drive the best customer experience in the safest, most reliable, and cost-efficient manner.

You will enable Amazon Pharmacy to deliver medications in a safe, secure, reliable, and scalable way. As a member of our engineering team, you will be at the intersection of the physical and digital world. You will be solving interesting and complex problems at the intersection of healthcare and technology, and you will be helping to make a real difference for our end consumers. You will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, clinical, distribution, and customer care teams.

As a Software Development Manager, responsibilities include direct management and coaching of engineers, process and feature improvements, strategic planning, project management for software within the team, and management of prioritization across teams. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can assess tradeoffs and business justification, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. This business requires creative engineering balanced with the highest quality and customer focus.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 7+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
