Amazon Senior Software Developer, Kuiper Enterprise Technology, Project Kuiper in Bellevue, Washington

Amazon’s Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband network connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

In Project Kuiper Enterprise Technology, we build the software, services, and infrastructure that enable our program to design and engineer the future of LEO Satellite based broadband services. Our team succeeds when the entire Project Kuiper organization can scale as needed to be successful. This role will lead a team of Engineers responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure solutions for Kuiper.

A day in the life

In initial expectations, this role will enable Kuiper’s enterprise applications, design tools and homegrown software services with best in class infrastructure solutions. Looking deeper, this is a unique opportunity for a skilled senior engineer to define and drive technical solutions from scratch.

This role is has broad scope and requires working closely with fellow engineers in the team as well as in Networking, IT, Mechanical Engineering and Enterprise Applications to understand the technical demands to meet competing requirements. Strategic technical direction in order to scale Kuiper's Infrastructure solution over time as well as tactical application to make sure all applications and services across the Kuiper landscape are functioning as expected.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • High attention to detail and intrinsic motivation required; as well as proven track record of launching highly reliable, fault tolerant services.

  • Professional experience architecting, operating cloud-based solutions.

  • AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise.

  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.

  • Able to adapt to new technologies, learn quickly, and manage high ambiguity.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
