JOB SUMMARYLeads the Equipment Engineering Pillar in operating with a high level of efficiency, integrity, and enthusiasm.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Strives to achieve excellence in all endeavors.· Be a creative and proactive contributor on the management team, focused on continuous improvement at all times.· Directs other Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering Technicians on their Lines and duties as assigned in the areas of machine observation and Line performance, and provides guidance in the determination of the necessary steps to achieve optimum machine and process efficiency.· Provides training to Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering Technicians in subjects such as equipment design concepts, maintenance and repair; machine programming and optimization; and Preventive and Predictive Maintenance and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) concepts and application.· Interfaces with Line Supervisors, Machine Support Manager, and Manufacturing Engineers to determine corrective actions needed to optimize machine efficiency and effectiveness (yields). Creates, documents and implements procedures that ensure continued operational excellence throughout the plant(s).· As required, provides expertise and direction to Manufacturing Engineering Technicians, and Machine Support Technicians on machine adjustments, repairs or other demand-maintenance activities.· Manages the coverage of Manufacturing Engineer and Manufacturing Engineering Technician duties in assigned plant(s) if an ME or MET is absent due to vacation, illness, training or some other reason. On certain occasions, performs or delegates those duties if and when a critical need arises.· Assists Manufacturing Engineers in determining optimum process performance by assisting with equipment specification, design/reviews and engineering studies, optimal machine software concepts and development, machine automation including but not limited to vision inspection systems and robotics, specifying and manufacturing/procurement of necessary tooling, and suggestions for design for manufacturing (DFM).· Ensures that data integrity functions such as machine recipe, program, and historian data and application structures are maintained and back-ups are completed per requirements on all lines in assigned plant(s).

· Learn medical device packaging processes/equipment and quality requirements to the Subject Matter Expert (SME) level.

· Lead projects focused on selecting, installing, and validating new packaging equipment and processes.· Lead efforts to optimize existing packaging equipment and processes.· Assist the Workcell Manager and Lead Engineer to ensure coverage of Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities in the event of absences due to vacation, illness, training, or other reasons. Perform those duties if and when a critical need arises.· Provide training and mentoring to less experienced Manufacturing Engineering staff on their assigned lines in subjects such as quality, equipment maintenance and repair, machine programming, and optimization.· Interface with Production staff and other Manufacturing Engineers to determine corrective actions needed to optimize machine efficiency and operational effectiveness.· Interact with Plant Management, Operations, Quality, Sterilization, and Purchasing to understand requirements, communicate status, and resolve issues.· Create equipment and process documents and implement procedures that ensure operational excellence and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles are followed.· Write and execute validation documents (IQ, OQ, SQ, PQ, PV) compliant with Jabil procedures and regulatory requirements.· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONSKNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

· Medical device packaging and terminal sterilization concepts.· Automated electromechanical systems with hands-on troubleshooting skills.· Networked equipment and SCADA, CMMS, and MES systems.· Selecting, commissioning, and validating automated manufacturing equipment.· Technical writing in a regulated environment.

· Advanced PC and communications skills.

· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and communicate valid conclusions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· Technical degree: Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering preferred.· 8+ years of experience with hi-volume manufacturing processes and equipment.· Experience in Healthcare Industry & Medical Devices required.
