About the Opportunity This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [FEU] The Project Management Operations Manager oversees a team of analysts tasked with project management responsibilities across the entire Emerging Technologies portfolio of approx. ten strategic distribution modernization and electrification initiatives totally $500M a year in spend. Current programs include Smart Meter/Automated Metering Infrastructure, Grid Modernization, Capital Infrastructure Improvement Plans, Electric Vehicle and Battery Storage pilots, etc. This role requires a highly skilled and motivated Project Management professional responsible for owning EmT's program management, including: Roadmap and Schedule Management, Risk management and Change Control governance, Vendor and Contract Management, Resource plans, etc. This role works closely with the EmT technical experts to create and manage a standardized and consistent approach for these project management tools, methodologies and processes. Responsibilities include: Supervise nine members of the EmT PMO team (5 FTE, 4 FT Contractor) which includes providing direction for daily work priorities, coaching/mentoring, quality oversight Overseeing development and presentment of program reporting across all Emerging Technology programs to include weekly, monthly and quarterly for different levels of leadership Creating framework by which team will conduct review of program status, issues, and risks with project managers to understand status and progress toward EmT objectives; report essential information to EmT leadership Managing program master workplans for every program which includes: the establishment of the initial baseline to include resource requirements, timelines by task, critical path tracking, and sensitivity analysis Developing and managing program risk management function with at least four EmT program risk workshops per year and risk mitigation plans developed for every high risk Oversee EmT control logs for each program and facilitate weekly PMO review for RICR meeting to review and address interdependencies among workstreams and to guide action items, issue resolution and risk mitigation Managing the vendor management function which includes: central coordination point for all procurement related and contract related activities for programs, deliverable tracking and reporting, and compliance management Coordinator for the RFI/ RFP/evaluation for all EmT procurement Provides support and advice to business stakeholders to ensure contract compliance and serve as an initial point of contact for commercial questions or concerns Provide guidance while also serving as an escalation point for vendor issues that arise Participating and contributing in EmT leadership/team meetings Demonstrating the ability to forge effective working relationships and achieving desired results with employees from various levels as well as third party vendors and consultants Championing continuous improvement activities across the business unit Interfacing with finance function to ensure change controls and program timelines and scope stay in tight alignment with the budget Making sound decisions by evaluating options with consideration for implications and consequences Promoting
