Starting Salary: $37,937.00 with CDL, $36,440.00 without CDL

Position: Mechanic I

Department: Public Works/Town Garage/Shop

Job Type:Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Position Description:

This position will be responsible for routine maintenance and general repair work on town fleet vehicles including mowing equipment, automobiles, light and heavy equipment. Past experience or training required in electrical systems, hydraulic systems and mechanical repair. Certificates not required but preferred.

Skills and Requirements:

• High school graduate or GED
• Vocational or technical certification in the Mechanic field or any equivalent combination of training and experience preferred.
• Additional training or experience in electrical, air and hydraulic systems, small engine repair, metal fabrication, and shop maintenance is preferred.
• Must have a valid Virginia Driver's CDL license or the ability to obtain a CDL within six months.
